Wearing Miu Miu shoes, Redone denim, Zara top, Clearly Contacts glasses
Like Madonna, I’m a material girl living in a material world. Unfortunately, I’ve caught the consumer bug, and sometimes I can’t help but feel anxious about it. For this reason, I’ve written down my philosophies to include a newer one that’s come around in the past year or so. To buy less and wear more. I’ve been honest with myself about my shopping habits, and gone are the days of a thousand t-shirts and collection of belts. Not only am I obsessed with shopping, but I’m obsessive when it comes to collecting things. I remember when I was obsessed with belts…I probably thrifted and gathered about 40 new belts within a month. And then there were scarves. And then vintage bags. And then mom jeans. And then books on Amazon (they’re usually cheaper). It’s a repetitive cycle, and/or addiction, that needed to come to an end. I’ve been happier with less. It’s also so gratifying to save and save and save, and then buy a coveted runway item that I will wear day in and day out until it falls apart. This is the new way of living.
These Miu Miu ballerina slippers were one of the first major buys under my new philosophy and I have to say, I haven’t stopped wearing them and I know it’s money well spent. They aren’t for everyone and I love that. Most people say nay (rather than yay). I’m ok with that.
What’s your “ugly/cute” coveted item right now?
